I'm going to miss our winter rains which were deliciously plentiful this year. This is the view from my office window looking out over the backyard. Such lovely afternoons spent here in recent months. Now it is Springtime, traditionally a much drier time of year in the desert.............but take a look at what this year's showers have given us!
The Sonoran Desert is now a carpet of green beginning to burst with color!
Wildflowers everywhere!
Such a lovely place to be this time of year.
Today I'm linking to Shadow Shot Sunday at Hello Harriet.....be sure to check out all the interesting photos on this site.
Also there are some gorgeous flowers at Today's Flowers and beautiful scenery at Scenic Sunday . Then for an interesting look around the world go to Sunday's in My City at Unknown Mami.
Finally I'm joining My World Tuesday G o on over and see what's going on in different parts of the world and Outdoor Wednesday for lovely outdoor shots.
Those photos are gorgeous. Came over here from Sundays in My City.

WOW just beautiful! the colors are so vibrant. I could use some of that right about now! Have a wonderful week:)
ReplyDeleteWhen the desert is in bloom it is indeed beautiful. We drove through your area during Spring one year and were just amazed at what we saw! That is such a cool "shadow shot" too. Really creates the mood on a rainy day.
ReplyDeleteI always love the winter rains in southern California. This year was wonderful because we know how beautiful the wild flowers will be in the deserts! We spent time out at Anza Borrego, California last weekend...it was popping with a green desert floor and wild flowers...so nice! I love you saguaro standing tall in all that green. Beautiful flowers...makes me smile!

I love it!!! I was just watching something on Nat Geo and they were talking about the spring rains of the desert, it looked just like your view...I love the desert!
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of flowers are these? They're gorgeous! Are these in fields or in people's yards or what?
ReplyDeleteRachel, to answer your question these are Desert Marigolds and Mexican Poppies. You see them of course out in open areas growing wild, but some people actually sow these seeds in their front yards during late fall or early winter. In Spring their yards are a riot of color!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures, Elaine. We aren't quite in Spring weather yet, but I have high hopes since there have some very warm days lately.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Love,
Amy

Yes, Maia, the flowers are desert wildflowers.....Desert Marigold and Mexican Poppies. I'm glad you enjoyed them....they really are breath taking, whether they're in someone's yard or in a spacious field. :)
ReplyDeleteElaine....love your "shadow-shot" of your window....very moody....perfect for a rainy day shot. I've never been to the desert Southwest but your photos make me want to visit!
